The 2022 Davenport Festival of Music is cancelled.
Due to the current and increasingly serious situation with the COVID-19 in the Toronto area, the Board of the Davenport Festival of Music is cancelling the 2022 Festival.
The health of students, teachers and participants is most important and we must now do our part to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Thank you.
Teacher Training Opportunity
Are you interested in teaching small group music lessons in schools around the GTA? The Canadian Bureau for the Advancement of Music (CBAM) is currently recruiting teachers to provide after-school music education.
Our unique program offers students affordable piano lessons, theory, ear training and sight reading in small group settings.
We are offering a three-day teacher training session August 9-11. Teachers who have completed the course, with the support of CBAM staff, may apply for permits to teach in local GTA school boards (TDSB, TCDSB, YCDSB, YRDSB, Peel DSB and DPCDSB).
The course will include:
- Hands-on professional development for classroom teaching covering classroom management, resource materials, classroom music instruction, parent liaison, report card preparation, and lesson plan development
- Training for practical and theoretical exam preparation and suitable repertoire suggestions for all levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced
- How to connect with teaching opportunities in schoolboards across the GTA
Tuition for this course is $200.00. Financial support can be provided for those facing a barrier to participating.
If you are interested, please send your resume to admin@cbam.ca.
